The first area gave me vibes of a space aged Darkholme Hospital with undertones of SZM pirate ship. Players can no longer short charge shinespark into Hydraconįixed a map error where an item dot was in the wrong position The Phytor pre-spospo save bug has been fixed A few level design changes that fix slope errors and better direct the player This hack was created for the Oats n Goats contestĪ completely new planet and spaceship to explore with a never-before-seen tileset. Watch out Samus, the pirates have been experimenting with antigravity technology. Her suit has been outfitted to withstand and protect her from the virus that has begun to mutate organisms on the planet as well as the space pirates themselves. While the original Super Metroid is honestly still technically the best to this day, I still loved this hack, and I hope you do, too.The Space Pirates have leaked a deadly virus on the minor planet Dysnomia, Samus must recover 5 artifacts and put an end to their reckless schemes.

Some parts where very tedious (especially the underwater platforming segments), but other parts were actually rather fun and rewarding to explore (usually areas that happen to be rich with puzzles and discovery). Unlike other hacks, this game does not have stupid stuff like tall pits that require you to Infinite Bomb Jump your way up (although enemies can deal a real crap-load of damage to you when all you have is the basic Power Suit and little or no idea where to go or what to do). Many thanks to Digital Mantra, the creator of this hack. It had some near-impossible moments and it didn't exactly end (or start) with a bang, but it was awesome. There are 4 artifacts scattered around Eris, and you must collect all 4 in order to access the final area of the game. This game can be very frustrating, as some key items are incredibly well-hidden, some boss battles are ridiculously annoying, and, for better or worse, the game follows a very rough sequence. This suit may not look all that unique (it's a generic golden suit with a bright red visor), but it is a combination of the Varia and Gravity Suits. For the majority of this game, you will never receive any suit upgrades, but eventually, after you beat Draygon, you will be able to obtain the "Chozen Armor". Also, you will need to go through an underwater area without a Gravity Suit once or twice. You just need to get them as soon as possible, because this game is brutal at times. It doesn't really matter when you get them.

You will need all of the Missiles, Super Missiles, Energy Tanks, and abilities you can get. While Super Metroid Phazon makes you feel overpowered against most enemies, Super Metroid Eris is all about survival. This entire hack is comprised of one big area, with various themed mini-areas crammed into it in a very clever and interesting fashion. Speaking of which, Metroid's Planet Eris appears to be a rather small planet. Super Metroid Eris takes place on Planet Eris (isn't there a real-life dwarf planet named Eris?). The atmosphere was extremely weird, creepy, and interesting, with extremely detailed art and a very mysterious story that makes the Chozo look somewhat like the bad guys at times. I almost thought that the gameplay quality and atmosphere was even better than that of the original Super Metroid for SNES. However, this game is kind of amazing when you think about it. Super Metroid Eris is by far the best ROM hack of Super Metroid that I have played so far, which might not be that hard to accomplish, since I can only name a few really enjoyable Super Metroid ROM hacks that I've beaten so far (Super Zero Mission and Super Metroid Phazon).
